Congratulations, It’s a Wetland!

TLT is very excited to announce the restoration of its first wetland using H2Ohio funding and partnering with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  Excavating this 9 acre wetland on Rainbow Run, a tributary of the Little Miami River, wasn’t easy.  But after a short delay and securing the right equipment, the project got back on track this fall.  The excavating team spent about seven days creating the wetland.  It is filling with water and reseeding and replanting the area with native, wetland plants has begun. Tom and Susan Miller, owners of the property, say, “We feel so lucky to have an H2Ohio project.  Not only are we improving water quality for Ohioans, we are improving habitat for the many pollinators and other creatures who share this planet with us.”

The Millers, being enthusiastic champions of the H2Ohio program have inspired their neighbors to participate.  TLT was just awarded another H2Ohio grant to restore 5 acres of wetland adjacent to the Millers’ property which will create a 14 acre wetland along Rainbow Run just before it joins the Little Miami River in Clifton Gorge.  Don’t be shy, if you think you might have an H2Ohio project, please give us a call.  There will be another round in 2024.
